Administrative Officer (Part Time Contractor position)

Work location: from your home & twice a month (4 hours total) in the climbing gym (520 Industrial Ave, Vancouver)
$20/hour, 10 hours a week
Start Date: Feb 1, 2019 End Date: December 31, 2019

Responsibilities:
Administrative Officer AO is in charge of the following projects:
- One on One Mentorship Match Program
- Compile a Contact List of school counsellors, social workers, youth workers, etc. for youth referral (Locations: Burnaby, Coquitlam, Surrey, North Vancouver, New Westminster, Richmond, & Squamish).
- (Intermittently) Contact professionals on the above Contact List to recruit new youth to the program.
- Our twice a month group indoor climbing session at the Hive Climbing Centre (520 Industrial Ave, Vancouver).
- (Monthly) Contact professionals on the above Contact List to set up 2 1.5hour indoor climbing sessions. See booking instructions. Booking hours generally work with school hours.
- Monday 10am – 5pm
- Tuesday 10am – 5pm
- Wednesday 7am – 5pm
- Thursday 10am – 5pm
- Friday 10am – 5pm
- Saturday 12pm – 6pm
- Sunday 12pm – 6pm
- Be present at the Session to greet, orientate and support the youth and youth supervisors. Take group photos/videos.
- (Monthly) Contact professionals on the above Contact List to set up 2 1.5hour indoor climbing sessions. See booking instructions. Booking hours generally work with school hours.
- Social Media promotion (Once a week)
- Post program photos/videos, news or programs referred by program partners which are useful for our youth, fun activities/events for our youth to check out, etc.
- (Occasionally) Support other admin duties.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and Experience with:
- Indoor bouldering and climbing (top rope belaying)
- Public speaking and running groups
- Firm leadership and boundaries: able to stop unsafe behaviour during indoor climbing sessions.
- Making professional phone calls and drafting professional e-mails.
- Using Excel or Google docs: docs, sheets, presentation (or Office or Mac equivalent) to manage information.
- Posting on Social media: Facebook, Instagram.
- Reliable work ethics, punctual, honest, self-disciplined to work from home,
- Understand our Society mandate as detailed in our Society Mission.
- Current criminal check record with a vulnerable sector check.
Bonus Points in Qualifications:
- Experience coaching climbing or sports.
- Experience working or volunteering with impoverished youth.
- Understand the Child, Family, Community Service Act especially “Child Protection” section.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Standard first aid and CPR
